Playing running back suits Aaron Coats' personality perfectly.
Coats, who will be a senior on the Greenville High School football team this fall, has been playing running back ever since he was in the fourth grade. And, this upcoming season, Coats may be relied upon more than ever as he helps first-year coach Quintarus McCray establish a powerful rushing attack.
“Being a running back means that I have to be hard-nosed,” Coats said. “All my life, everything I have had to do has been hard.”
Coats credits his three brothers for helping make him a tough person and player. He especially credits his oldest brother Andre for not letting him ever give up.
“Andre taught me to be fearless,” Coats said. “We had a couple fights growing up together, but it helped make us all strong. It helped us to stand up for ourselves when we need to.”
