Background

Lizzie Coleman Middle School has a strong legacy as a school in the heart of the Mississippi Delta located in Washington County in the city of Greenville.  The history of this facility goes back to 1922.  It served as a high school for African American students until 1970.  After many years it transitioned into a Junior High School and within the last decade it has been converted into a Middle School, which serves grades 6-8.  The community consists of families that have roots here stretching back generations.

Vision:

Commited to Excellence for All

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Greenville Public School District is to provide the opportunity for all to achieve success.

Ella Darling's Mission:

The mission of Ella Darling is to communicate to students the relevance of subject matter, to emphasize skills, and develop knowledge and transferable attributes for successful navigation through life.

Programs:

Ella Darling Achievement Center has two academic programs. The programs are there to help each student gain success. The programs include: GED and Alternative Program.

-The GED Program is based for students ages 16 or older that are two or more grades behind. The students learn basic knowledge of each academic subject to complete the GED comprehensive exam.

-The Alternative Program is a behavioral program for students that displayed inappropriate behaviors at their base school. This program focuses on building students to do more positive things or aspects. Meanwhile, the program features ISS (in school suspension), a component to foster students’ negative behavior toward others at the school.
